Benefits of Honey

“In today’s post we have a guest blogger Maria Rainier who speaks about many benefits of Honey. She not only speaks about general benefits but also goes to an extent of using honey for Burns and Cuts”.

A sweet food made from the nectar of flowers by the bees is called as Honey. A substance that is not only known for its sweetness but also for its multiple health benefits since ancient times. What so great about this liquid? Here are few of many benefits of Honey.

For Your Body

·        Eyes: Honey mixed with carrot juice helps improve eyesight.{ Eye care in Ayurveda }
·        Heart: to strengthen heart muscles, combine one or two teaspoons of honey with one teaspoon of anise powder in warm water.
·        Blood: to lower your blood pressure, crush garlic and acquire one teaspoon of its juices and combine it with two teaspoons of honey.  Try taking it twice a day mixed in with other foods or juices.  To clean bowls, reduce fat, and purify blood, take a glass of warm water and mix a teaspoon of honey with a teaspoon of lemon juice.  It will improve your digestion, as well.
·        Asthma: half a gram of black pepper (powdered) with a honey and ginger juice mixture taken three times a day is said to alleviate some symptoms of asthma over time.
·        Throat: Everyone knows that honey in a nice, warm cup of tea soothes the throat.  Try this mixture: equal quantities honey and ginger juice will soothe the throat and help clear sinuses.  Honey’s antioxidants and anti-bacterial properties have also been used through the centuries to improve digestion (and a healthy stomach means a healthy immune system).{How to cure Sore Throat?}
·        Basic Health: Armed with carcinogen-preventative and anti-tumor properties, honey can be used moderately in combination with common sense healthy lifestyle choices to prevent your chances of cancer.

For Energy
Honey also provides carbohydrates to fuel our bodies during exercise.  Athletes often employ honey to relieve muscle fatigue.  Our bodies absorb the glucose in honey quickly, which becomes an instant energy boost.  This means a small spoonful of honey taken before going for a run may take you the extra mile.  Instead of coffee, try tea with honey to both calm your senses and give you just as much caffeine as coffee with the added benefits of honey to get your morning going.

For Cuts and Burns
Ancient civilizations used honey to treat a laundry list of ailments ranging from arthritic pain to yeast infections.  Certain bacteria cannot grow in the presence of honey’s antiseptic properties, which means it can also be used to clean external wounds and prevent infection therein.  Furthermore, it absorbs moisture from the air to promote healing and prevents inflammation and therefore pain and scarring.  Look for home remedies online and discover new uses for this miracle food for daily life.

Bio: Maria Rainier is a freelance writer and blog junkie. She is currently a resident blogger at First in Education, researching areas of http://www.onlinedegrees.org. In her spare time, she enjoys square-foot gardening, swimming, and avoiding her laptop.

Why Should You Practice Yoga?

“Denise Gabbard in today’s post brings forward a many reasons why one should practise yoga. Why a spiritual practise in the East is becoming more and more trendy in the West. And why its worth following the trend and trying it yourself. Have a look... “

Yoga has transformed in western culture from its original purpose: as a spiritual practice in Hinduism. Here in the United States, it is used more to relax the body and mind, stretch the muscles, and enhance meditative practices.The rise in popularity of Yoga in the West seems due to the medical aspect. Most yoga classes are a mixture of physical exercises, breathing exercises, and meditation.These three things are what make yoga very beneficial exercise for people with health conditions, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, and back conditions.

Studies have shown yoga helps people of all ages who have heart problems. It seems to regulate heart health in many ways, including controlling high blood pressure and improving resistance and reaction to stress.

A large number of clinical trials have been being published about yoga and its effects on psychological and emotional health. A quick Google search will net you dozens of clinical trials published in the last three years relating yoga to emotional and psychological health.

There have also been studies done with cancer patients who participated in yoga while also receiving radiation therapy treatments. The yoga focused on breathing and relaxation, with no difficult poses. These have found that cancer patients enjoy better physical function and lower problems with fatigue and sleep problems when practicing yoga.

Yoga can teach you to focus and make your mind sharper. Simple breathing exercises can be the start of your yogic experience, as they are an important part of yoga. Once you've mastered the breathing, (it is much harder than it sounds to do that) you can move on to some simple poses, which will help your body to become flexible and sleek.

Flexibility and strength are often much improved after a series of yoga exercise sessions, as well as posture and enhanced breathing. Perhaps one of yoga’s best benefits is an overall feeling of calmness. Even beginners will often feel more relaxed after their first class.{6 things to know before starting Yoga }

In some yoga styles teaches  meditation techniques to cease mind chatter that often causes undue stress. Deep breathing techniques, too, will focus on the breath, and when mastered, this calms your mind and reduces stress as well, resulting in overall better health.{Read  benefits of meditation here }

So if you can get a healthy body and healthy mind, all the effects of de-stressed life with just few stretches and breathes do not you think its worth a try today.

5 Good Reasons to Eat Eggs Everyday

“Joe our guest writer for today’s post  is an fitness enthusiast who runs his own personal training business .Today he writes on eggs and why are they should be eaten daily”.

Eggs were once much maligned by the health media, derided for their ‘bad cholesterol’ and high fat content. Of course the myth that eggs were bad for your health was buried long ago with archaic low fat diets and dodgy 80’s haircuts, now most people recognize the true health benefits that eggs promote and are happy to eta them on a daily basis. For the non-converted however, here are five reasons why eggs should be a staple part of your diet:

1. They Contain Good Fat:
We all know now that cutting fat out of our diets doesn’t necessarily mean you will loose body fat. Goods fat like the mono and polyunsaturated types found in egg yolks are essential to maintaining health eyes, skin and hair.{Read more on Dietary Fats :  Pro and Cons  }

2. They are High in Protein
Protein is a vital tool for anyone looking to loose fat. Because it takes a long time for the body to break down and process, protein is very satiating meaning it will keep you full for long periods, cutting down the urge to snack on treats

3. They are Convenient
Eggs are super quick to prepare and cook, not needing any extra ingredients to make a tasty meal that you can eat at breakfast, lunch or dinner

4. They boost Testosterone
For men, increased testosterone levels are on the whole, a good thing. The good fats in eggs promote testosterone production which leads to higher energy levels .

5. They are Cost Effective
Many protein foods like chicken breasts are costly, especially if you eat them on a regular basis, eggs are comparatively cheap, depending on what sort you buy meaning they are a great option if you wish to maintain a low cost, high protein diet.

Editorial :
Ayurveda believes that what we eat , so would it increase in our own body. So if you are eating eggs , your body would have good amount of eggs which means sperms and ova. Eggs are known to increase sperm count and also regularize menstrual cycle in women. If suffering with infertility eggs are a good food to have in diet.

Benefits of Being a Vegan

Today we have Evelyn Parham as our guest blogger.  She is the author of Becoming a Healthier You, where she writes about healthy living, vegan and blogging topics.

Whenever anyone inquires about my diet, the first question is “how do you do it and what do you eat.”  I answer them by telling them it is a way of life for me and I just do it.  I also eat a vegan diet for health reasons and I have noticed some awesome benefits from doing so.

What is a vegan diet?

A vegan diet is derived from fruit, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, seeds and other wholesome non-animal products.

A vegan diet is not boring.  There are so many new foods and recipes that you can try.  I promise that you will not be bored eating a vegan diet.

The great thing about eating a vegan diet is that you will cut out all the processed foods and focus on eating whole foods.  It is always a good plan to focus on eating whole foods.

Below are some benefits that you can expect when you adopt a vegan diet:

  • Healthy Weight Loss
You will notice that you will begin slimming down.  Almost effortlessly!  The reason for this is because a vegan diet is not high in fat and cholesterol.  You will lose weight in a healthy manner, all while giving your body wholesome foods.
  • Clearer Skin
Who doesn’t want clear skin?  You will notice that your skin will have less break outs and that you have a healthy glow.  Ladies, there is almost no need to wear make-up, because your skin will glow naturally.
  • Better Digestion
You notice that you are less bloated and that you have regular elimination.  You will hardly ever have problems with constipation and you will not feel sleepy after eating a vegan meal.
  • Try New Foods
Eating a vegan diet doesn’t have to be boring.  You can actually have fun trying new foods.  There are so many different foods that you can try.  The next time you go to a Farmers Market, pay attention to the variety of foods that are available.

Conclusion

Eating a vegan diet isn’t for everyone.  If you are curious about eating a vegan diet, try eating a few vegan meals a week.  Even if you never become a vegan, after eating a few vegan meals a few times a week, you will feel healthier and have more energy.

5 Poses to Reduce Anxiety and Panic Attack.

Christmas is around the corner and yes we all are getting ready for that big day. Well even though it is a festival to have fun, enjoy the great time with our friend and family. But still for many of us this is the biggest time of the year for anxiety and panic attacks do you know. It’s nothing to do with work, but it’s all about cooking, buying presents and all those things that comes with families. Here in this article we would see 5 different yoga poses to reduce anxiety and panic attacks.

Yoga and Anxiety Disorder & Panic Attacks
  1. Forward Bend (Padangustasana): Here is a pose that really helps a lot to calm one’s mind. The whole idea of dropping the head down towards mother earth makes the heart to push more blood towards the brain. A feel of rejuvenation can be achieved anywhere you do this pose. Try it any time anywhere for a minute or two and check it out. (How to do Padangustasana?)
  2. Downward Dog Pose (Adho Mukha Svasana) Have you seen a dog stretch, well this pose is something that he would follow. Yogis used this technique as they knew the benefit this pose would serve to our brains. Try this pose when you are really anxious about something, see how you feel. (How to do Downward Dog Pose?)
  3. Neck Roll: Well the first think that would affect our body when we get tensed, panic attacks, anxiety would be our neck region. Neck roll is something that can be done easily again anywhere and anytime. Rolling our neck releases the tension at the muscles. Also it increases the flow of circulation of blood to that area to relaxing the upper thorax region. (How to do Neck Roll?)
  4. Corpse Pose (Shavasana) Well do you think a corpse would have any emotions. No …. well this is a pose which is so perfect for conditions like anxiety do not you think. Anxiety and panic attacks is just because we would like to be in control. That is human nature, and here is the pose that helps you let to lose that control and let it be in a moment. Try it  (How do Shavasana?)
  5. Deep Breathing (Pranayama) Deep breathing has multiple benefits and one major benefit it to relax our body both physically and mentally. It is simple mechanism where body calms itself due to extra flow of oxygen. Anxiety brings tension all over the body creating constriction of all vessels, which in due course makes our breath shallow. Deep breathing changes that completely relaxing us. (How to do Deep Breathing?)

Well give this Christmas time for you to avoid such panic attack. Try doing this poses and deep breathing and see the result.
